Assuming you have some flexibility with your time, the first step is to sit down and map out when you’re available to work.
This means plotting out time for professional life (work and/or school) and personal life ( being social, your well-being, etc.)
Once you have an idea of when you’re available, you can start to fill in your schedule with more specific tasks.

Although, there’s no magic formula for what goes into your schedule, here’re a few suggestions.
The first and most important point is to set goals for a specific day.
Although setting goals seems to be a little bit daunting process, the key is to keep it simple and be as specific as possible.
So if you want to be more productive, start with the following question:
What do I want to achieve today?
And make sure your answer is short, simple, and specific.
For example, my goal for today is to publish this blog post by 6 pm.
On the other hand, what if you have a lot on your plate and it seems today’s to-do list has no end?

In my opinion, the key to a more organized daily life is prioritizing tasks.
Although you may think that all your tasks are super important and super urgent, the reality is much simpler.
Because of the fact that prioritizing is in fact an easy thing to do, you can use various techniques to help you with that.
For example, feel free to try the following methods.
A priority matrix is a productivity tool that helps you to identify and prioritize tasks based on urgency and importance.
ABCDE method by Brian Tracy where you write down all your daily tasks and assign the different levels from A to E (A means have to do, B – need to do, C- it’d nice to do, D-to delegate, E-to ignore).
Action Priority Matrix (APM) is a great way to make an efficient decision when you’re short on time.
Because you can’t do everything, you need the best possible option.
You prioritize tasks according to the effort you need to put in and their benefits.
Similar to a profit and loss account, you can simply make better decisions about where you’re spending your time.

On the other hand, the next method is more of a review type of thing.
However, keep in mind that sometimes you can repeat tasks only because you’ve been doing them for so long.
Definitely, the start, stop, and continue method allows you to evaluate your tasks, goals, or projects according to their point.
The idea behind this is to quickly identify what’s working and what’s not.
Start – it’s the right time to work on new projects, develop new habits, to take the existing projects to the next stage
Stop – it’s the right time to get rid of projects that waste your resources (time, money, etc.) or distract you from your main goal
Continue – all you need to do is to keep going to move to the “start” block

Apart from these three methods I’ve been using for a couple of years, recently I’ve discovered the new one.
It’s a feature buckets prioritization (FBP) method by Adam Nash.
First and foremost, this method is designed mostly for businesses that offer products or services.
Because I’m working on digital planning products, I’m so excited to try them out.
Definitely, my main pain point is to constantly improve the product to make all potential customers happy.
And it’s so mentally draining.
This prioritization method assumes that all your ideas belong to one of the following three buckets:
- metric’s movers
- customer requests
- customer delight
The key to success is to balance them out.
