Journaling was a game-changer.
Not only does it help me clear my mind, but it also allows me to know myself better by asking the right questions.
Definitely, it was so worth including it in my daily routine.
In other words, it’s a simple tool that will help you hit pause, reflect, and bring some clarity to your busy mind.

Blank Digital Daily Journal Templates
The first one is very similar to a brain dump.
Basically, you simply let your thoughts flow freely onto the blank daily journal.
In fact, it doesn’t have to make sense.
You simply do a mental detox by clearing your mind.
For instance, I always feel calmer after a journaling session. Suddenly, these giantous overwhelming problems start to seem a lot less daunting.
But the next question you may have is how to start.
After reading many articles about journaling, there are three things you can do.
First, write down the first thought that comes to your mind.
Secondly, stop overthinking. It doesn’t have to make sense. You probably won’t read it ever again.
Thirdly, let it flow.
However, this way of journaling isn’t for me.
In other words, I sat with a blank page and didn’t know how to start.
Indeed, I’m not very good at living without any guidelines or prompts.
For this reason, I created a daily journal with prompts.

Another way to journal is by using journal prompts.
Basically, you answer specific questions each day.
Undoubtedly, it’s my favorite way to journal because it guides my thoughts.
Because these prompts allow me to dive deeper into my thoughts, emotions, ideas, and goals, now I understand myself better.
Here are some example questions from this month’s daily journal:
- What have you learned from a book you’ve read recently?
- Describe a skill you’d like to learn or improve.
- What are three things that make you feel happy?
- Describe a perfect evening at home.
- What do you love about life?
4-Step Routine To Build a Journaling Habit
Last but not least, I’m 100% aware of the fact that building a regular journaling habit may be challenging.
Well, it was challenging for me.
Let me digress for a moment.
As you may already know, I’m a huge fan of Atomic Habits by James Clear.
I highly recommend this book. It changed my life for real.

Nevertheless, according to the book, if you want to build a new habit you need to make it:
- obvious
- attractive
- easy
- satisfying
So the very first thing I place an iPad on my kitchen table. This visual cue reminds me to write each morning.
Also, I link journaling to an existing morning habit. In my case, after I brush my teeth, I sit down to journal.
Additionally, I make it enjoyable by listening to lofi music and using an aesthetic digital journal you can download below.
To make it easy I use a daily journal with prompts.
Last but not least, I make it satisfying by adding cute stickers after completing a page.
Once I committed to this routine and used prompts to guide my writing, it became a crucial part of my daily routine.
Now, I can’t imagine starting my day without it.
For me, writing has become a daily habit that’s made a big difference in how I handle stress and understand myself.
